My entry to the Exquisite Corpse of Science

Tim Jones at the Zoonomian blog is working on an Exquisite Corpse of Science. Sounds gruesome, but it doesn’t involve any dead organisms. An exquisite corpse is a Surrealist art technique for patching drawings together using simple rules. For the Exquisite Corpse of Science, the idea is to draw what you think is important in science and submit your drawing. Anyone can submit–you don’t have to be a scientist. And it doesn’t have to be a hand-drawing. Some of the entries so far include computer graphics and paintings. Tim will then stitch together the pictures to form what might be the biggest sci-art project ever.

I think understanding complexity and interconnected systems is important in many areas of science, but especially in neuroscience, so I drew this (the green edamame-like thing is supposed to be a brain):

Hey Lily, nice blog on ‘the corpse’ !

I’ve been sliding your drawing around with the others and it connects well (not everybody actually follows the instructions re the joining points).

Thanks for supporting this. Still early days, but I think it will be lot a fun browsing the finished product.

    Cheers

    Tim
